There are those who do not sit still and let life be. These people always need more and want more. They desire the superficial to fade away and pure uncensored passion and excitement to define every day. Jerry is one of these people, and just as Jerry hypnotises, angers, disturbs, and ultimately changes Peter's life, Albee uses this play to do the same things to the audience. The quote below expresses this sentiment quite beautifully and is a message that I hope we can instill in audiences.
"...because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes 'Awww!"
